Kuala Gandah Elephant conservation was established in 1989 by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks. The centre is a base for the Elephant Relocation Team, which began the elephant translocation programme in 1974.
The only one of its kind in Malaysia, the team is dedicated to locating, subduing and translocating elephant from areas where their habitats were encroached by plantations or other human development, to other suitable habitats throughout the Peninsular such as Taman Negara.Over the past 25 years the centre has helped prevent the further declined of the elephant population by relocating more than 500 wild elephant.
Deerland and Sun Bear - with visit to the deerland Park, you will have the chance to feed and mingle with the deer and the magnificent sun bear.
Visitor are encouraged to participate in activities such as:-
- Video Show - view a video on issues affecting wild elephant, their diminishing habitat and translocation.
- Feeding the elephant.
